Twelve drummers drumming
We have come to the last day of The 12 Days of Christmas here on The Boho Birdie. It has been fun! I loved seeing all the great things the etsy artist have to offer. Now take a look at the last and final item...
Today for the 12 Days of Christmas I am featuring these totally modern-chic Drum Lamp Shades from myfinch on etsy. There are so many beautiful styles to chose from. I had a hard time picking my favorites!

Nine Ladies Dancing
Christmas is almost here and we are coming to the end of our 12 Days of Christmas items here on The Boho Birdie (sniff, sniff). Etsy truly has so many wonderful items to chose from, sometimes I have a hard time picking!
Today for the 12 Days of Christmas I am featuring these lovely Dance on the Moon earrings from Wire Art By Mel on etsy.

I love the color and texture of these earrings. It really does look like someone is dancing on the moon. These are very beautiful one-of-a-kind earrings. Too cool!

Eight maids a-milking

As part of the 12 days of Christmas today I am featuring Victoria from LittleWrenPottery on etsy. I have chosen Victoria's Brown and Green Speckled Milk Jug Pitcher. I was happy to get a chance to chat with Victoria and learn a little bit more about her and what makes her tick. You can truly tell she has a love for pottery and finds inspiration in the simplest perfections--and imperfections.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself

A: I'm Victoria Baker and I've been throwing for only a couple of years. My dad however has done it for many years and I've learnt how to do it from him. As a child I used to watch him throw pots on the wheel and I think to some extent hes part of the reason why throwing comes quite naturally to me. I also do a lot of other crafts like knitting, illustration and I also design websites. I've been on Etsy for about half a year or so but I do also run my professional blog The Typhon - http://www.thetyphon.com/, a heavy metal podcast called Ragnarok Radio that's been going since 2006 http://www.ragnarokradio.co.uk/ and I tweet an awful lot on twitter http://twitter.com/moominmidge

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for this item?

A: I get a lot of inspiration from nature both colours and shapes. I often think that simple forms can be beautiful and understanding how your object is to be used in everyday life is really important. Creating objects that are both beautiful and functional is key. I'm a massive fan of the pottery of Shoji Hamada. Japanese potters have a totally different outlook on what they make since imperfections are seen as beautiful - adding uniqueness to an object.

Q: What type of material was used to make this?

A: I usually throw in buff clay which produces Stoneware pots. The jug is glazed in Rutile which often gives colour variations of browns, greens and sometimes flecks of white. I just love how no pot is ever the same colour when it comes out of the kiln.

What is the 12 Days of Christmas here on The Boho Birdie? Each day will represent one of the 12 Days of Christmas. We will get to meet an artist from etsy and learn a little about them and their 12 Days of Christmas themed item. Each item will have something to do with this wonderful Christmas song.

This is truly, I think, the best part of having a place like etsy. It is great meeting others who are creative in their own way--just trying to share their talents and love for their craft with others. I love it! Tomorrow is the 4th day of Christmas. I will be featuring an item with the theme of Four Calling Birds! So please come back!

On the 7th Day of Christmas My True Love Gave to Me...

Seven Swans A-Swimming.
Alright I have to admit, I am a Twilight fan and as I was searching for the perfect item for seven swans a-swimming I came across lots of Twilight themed items (Bella Swan is one of the main character's last names in this series). I really had no idea this was going to happen. So I decide to go with a Twilight type swan rather than a animal type swan for the 7th day's featured item. However, I tried to go for something a little more subtle.

Now this is totally cool, I found out that this bag was featured in both the Twilight and New Moon movies. How cool! Check out this beautiful bag at stitchandswash on etsy.

I am so happy I stumbled upon this item! I remember seeing this in the movie. It is a gorgeous bag.

On the 6th Day of Christmas My Ture Love Gave to Me...

Six geese a-laying
All the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season has taken me away from my computer for a little while. However I am here to catch up on my 12 Days of Christmas.

For the 6th day of Christmas I found this beautiful Geese in Flight-Eco Felt Pillow featuring some lovely geese.

You can find this pillow and many other goodies at sarahsmilecreations on etsy.

Three French Hens
As part of the 12 days of Christmas today I am featuring Emily from charmedmsure on etsy. I have chosen Emily's French Hen Hat

I am so happy I was able to learn a little bit about Emily and how he likes to mixes fanciness with functionality.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself
A: My name is Emily Adams and I've only been making hats for about a year so I'm very new. I started out making hats for my little niece and decided grown-up girls need cute toppers too. I've just started a blog so that people can get to know me, it's very VERY new so it's as bare bones as you can get but I will be working on it a lot. You can check out her blog at charmedmsure.blogspot.com

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for this item?
A: For this particular hat I was inspired by the feathers first. I love how the blues and greens shine in different lights and really dress up the soft camel colored wool. I wanted it to be very wearable but with a bit of fanciness- to be very lady-like.
Q: What type of material was used to make this?
A: I use Velcro to attach the feathers and the hat is crocheted with 100% wool and then hand felted to be super soft.

Two Turtle "Doves"
As part of the 12 days of Christmas today I am featuring Abby from TheSpinningLotus on etsy. I have chosen Abby's P E A C E Sterling Silver Chain with Sterling Silver "Dove" Bird and Peace Sign Pendant.

I am so happy I got a chance to learn a little bit more about Abby. She finds such wonderful inspiration for her items.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself

A: My name is Abby, and I've been crafting for about 8 years, but I've only been on etsy for a little over a year. I really enjoy scrapbooking, spending time with my wonderful family (including my Pomeranian, Sam and Dave), practicing yoga, and painting watercolors.

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for this item?

A: I wanted to invoke the dove as a Christian symbol of peace and hope, like when the dove returned to Noah after the great flood with an olive branch, symbolizing the return of peace and a new beginning. The combination of the peace pendant and the dove is both a literal and figurative interpretation of the peace and hope ideal~~one of the highest spiritual values to which we can aspire during the holiday season. I'm also inspired by Native American religious practices, particularly the harmony ideal. Hundreds of years ago, when Native Americans met European explorers, they would frequently present white feathers to the visitors as symbols of peace and harmony.

Q: What type of material was used to make this?

A: The necklace is all sterling silver. I'm interested in learning to work with pure white gold, but right now I'm focusing on affordable pieces.

Thank you Abby for allowing us to see what inspires you! It was such a pleasure! Happy Holidays.

A Partrigde in a "Pear" Tree
As part of the 12 days of Christmas today I am featuring Tonya from milkbubblesstudio on etsy. I have chosen Tonya's Simple Shabby Joy "Pears".

I am so glad I got to learn a little bit more about Tonya. She truly has a touching story behind why she does what she does.
Q: Tell us a little about yourself
A: I've been sewing as long as I can remember, my mom bought me my first sewing kit for my 5th Christmas. She always let me pick out my own material for my clothes and would make them the way I wanted. Looking back on it I wonder how she still has her sight after sewing some of it....back then the brighter, louder the better! I thank her daily for the craft she taught me. Now she has Parkinsons and is unable to sew. I've been taking care of her for the last 2 1/2 years and just in the past 3 months had to place her in professional care. I show her all my finished projects and she always approves.I'm also the single mother of 2. One is a silversmith here on etsy. I won't even get started on the pride I feel for her. The other is a 12 year old boy, who is as creative as they come. My shop is almost 2 years old.. My daughter talked me in to it.

Q: Where did you get your inspiration for this item?
A: The inspiration for the pears is that I seem to like simple-shabby-modern things. Things that aren't too perfect and have personality.. a little worn, with a story to tell. I love words, faded paint, things that don't usually go together.

Q: What type of material was used to make this?
A: The pears are made of muslin, satin, textile paint.

As mentioned above Tonya also has a daughter who is on etsy. Her site is mysilverpie.etsy.com. She and her husband just moved from South Carolina to Texas. He is in the Air Force 6 years and counting. So, right now her shop is on vacation mode. However she is ready to get it up and going again! So stick around.

Thank you Tonya for allowing us to get a little glimpse into milkbubblesstudio on etsy! It was such a pleasure! Happy Holidays.
