Yummy Cookie Cutting Technique

Thursday, January 21, 2010

I saw these cookies on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens Magazine this month. I knew I had to try this technique and guess what...it works like a charm! These cookies were super easy to create and tons of fun. Everyone LOVED them! They are prefect for Valentines Day, anniversaries, birthdays or showers!

Things you will need:
1 inch heart cookie cutter
3 inch circle cookie cutter
Sugar cookie mix
Fudge frosting

(Now the recipe in the magizen is for homemade cookie dough and fudge that you can find on the website but I was in a pinch for time so I just used the Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix and fudge frosting)

  1. Make cookie dough according
    to the instructions, refrigerate
    dough for 45 minutes.
  2. Use 3 in. circle cutter, cut
circles using up all the dough.
  3. Use 1 in. heart cutter and cut
hearts from the middle of half
of the 3 in. circles. Bake
    cookies.
  4. Cool cookies. Spread fudge
frosting on all the whole circle
    cookies and place these fudge
    covered circle cookies
on top of the heart cut out
    cookies.
  5. Enjoy!

Of course you could make these types of cookies using a peanut butter mix and chocolate frosting--kinda like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Enjoy!

I just thought I would share some of the Holiday Photos with you. I had a very busy Holiday season filled with friends, family, great food and good times. I feel very blessed to have had such a wonderful Holiday with my family.

My boyfriend A.J. and I together this Christmas. I am so glad he was home for a long time! I can not believe this was our 6th Christmas we have shared together all ready. Time truly does fly by when you are having fun!

My little brothers and I (who are both not so little any more!!!)

Here are my little nephews. They were so excited this Holiday Season. These years are the best when it comes to celebrating Christmas. Everything is just so exciting to them.

What a great Christmas gift! A.J. got both of us tickets to a hockey game! We both love sports, especially hockey and especially the Detroit Red Wings! Go Wings!!!!

All I can say here is I can not believe my baby baby brother is almost as tall as my dad!

All in all this Holiday Season was so much fun! I am also looking forward to another brand new year filled with love, laughter and joy for my whole family!

A Look Back at All the Hustle and Bustle

Friday, January 1, 2010

Here is a look at some of my Holiday items I worked on this past month. I had some custom orders as well as some family gifts. These all kept me very busy and truly got me in the Holiday Spirit.

This Holiday Season I was looking for something special to give the party hostess. I went back and forth on a few options but finally landed with this. Each hostess was given this Angel Ornament as a hostess gift this year. I also found a really easy way to wrap these little guys up. I just took a Zip lock baggie, cut the zipper part off and fill it with some decorative paper left over from last year and tied it with some raffia. Very easy and so fast!

These five custom items were created for a good friend from my elementary school. She was looking for two frames for her children, a custom name plaque and two bottle buddies. These were all given as Christmas gifts to her family. I truly had a lot of fun making these special pieces for her and I hope her and her family enjoyed them.

Here were some cookies I brought over to my neighbors house. I babysit the two younger children and thought they would enjoy these yummy treats. I also found a cute way to dress up an kind of treat. Cover the plate with plastic wrap but start under the plate and pull the warp up over the cookies or treats and then decorate with ribbons and tags.

For one of my family parties I put together all of these ornaments for all the ladies. I wrapped them the same way I did the hostess gifts and everyone seemed to like them :)

I hope you enjoyed a look back at some of the items I worked on over the Holiday Season.

Right now I am working on so new items. So please stick around for some sneak peak pictures! :)
