Baby Shower Over Load!

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Hello There!
I have finally had some time to catch up on my blogging and etsy shop. Not too long ago I started a baby shower do it yourself feature and I am back now to give you all the details! My mother, grandmother, aunt and I had a wonderful time planning and preparing these two showers for my cousin and her new little guy, Gage. Below are all the picture I took. Remember we had a safari themed shower with some orange, brown and green color inspiration. I will give you the details on everything from goodie bags to decorations. So please take look here at all the decorations...This was the snack table. We had set out with all kinds of goodies. I found really easy directions for those fun tissue paper pom-poms on Martha Stewart. They were super quick and fun to make. Everyone loved them. They were a hit! Try them out! I cut out the little leaves on my Circuit Machine. I sprinkled the little touches all around the house.

This was our little candy bar station. Because we had quite a few people at these showers we were having trouble coming up with a cute, inexpensive giveaway. We pulled together and came up with a candy bar. We filled cheap glass jars we bought from The Hobby Lobby with the soon-to-be-mommy's favorite candy and we asked guessed to fill little goodie bags for themselves. This was very easy and because we went to a bulk food store, pretty inexpensive.

This was one of our games we played. We found some colorful jellybeans at the bulk food store. We picked colors to match baby Gage's room and counted them. We asked guests to guess how many jellybeans were in the jar. The closest one got to take the jar of jellybeans home with them.
These are the baby banners that I made for the party and for Molly to later hang in Gage's room. The top one is simply cutting out triangles and gluing them onto a ribbon. I then cut out letters on my Circuit Machine. The bottom banner was made with my sewing machine, a long piece of ribbon and different size circles.

There is still more to come so please stick around!

Baby Shower Goodie-Bags

Check out these adorable pins and goodie-bags that were given away at the baby shower!

I found these pins at Micheal's Arts and Craft store a few weeks before the shower. The were so cute. The mommy-to-be, Molly, was able to pass these around to all of her family members before the guests arrived. Everyone got a huge kick out of these!

These were the goodie-bags that were passed around to all the children that came to the shower. We decided to go with two family style showers where men, women and children were all invited. Each bag was packed with two animals tattoos, jungle fruit snacks and a wooden magnet coloring kit we found at Micheal's Arts and Craft store. These bags were stuffed and put together for all under $1.50 each.

To create this grassland inspired goodie-bag all you need is a few simple items. All of these can be found at any craft store. I got all of my supplies from Micheal's.
  1. Small brown craft bags
  2. 1 Roll of green craft paper
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue (glue dots worked the best!)
These bags were completed repeating these short steps for each individual bag....
  1. Cut green craft paper into strips about 3 inches wide.
  2. Cut small triangles to create a grass affect.
  3. Glue the cut grass to the bottom of the bag. (this part can be a bit tricky, this is why glue dots work the best!)
  4. Stuff with goodies and enjoy!

Hello there!
I am so sorry it has been a while! Everything just came at once here in my family. We had my cousins baby shower one weekend and the very next week my cousin had her baby!!! (and the fact that Michigan has been seeing some beautiful weather does not help either!) I will have some up dated photos of Baby Gage and the baby shower as well with in the next few days. I am just trying to get back into the swing of things here so please stay posted. I also went on a photo shoot with my good friend Jordan. So many, many photos are to follow! Please come back, its good to be back!

Baby Shower Up Date

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Hello everyone!
I am so sorry it has been so long. My Internet has been acting up but we got the problem fixed and I am back up and running!
We have been working very hard on my cousin's baby shower. We got all the invitations out over two weeks ago. Everyone seemed to enjoy them very much. :o)

We have come up with a final menu and have started to buy items that can be purchased ahead of time such as the plates, cups, napkins and silverware. We have a lot of guests coming to both the Friday and Saturday showers so we decided to stay with very simple foods. Nothing to fancy at all. Convenience and simplicity played a huge factor in choosing the menu items. We stat down and divided up the food duties. This way there is not just one person in charge of all the food. It makes everything much less stressful and easy! Take a look at the menu....
We only have six days left so time is ticking. We have decided to invite both men, women and children to both parties. Everyone in my family is very laid back and enjoys a good time. So we figured why not involve everyone in the celebration right?!

After our Mother's Day celebration tomorrow I will be sitting down and finishing up all the giveaways for the children that are coming. I am excited about the goodie-bags and all the little treats that come with them. I will also be putting together some of the games we will be playing. So please come back for more baby shower fun!!!
